I recently caught up with Nathan and James from Canadian Blackened Metal Band Hell Is Other People to discuss the latest upcoming album Moirae, due out on October 11th via Transcending Obscurity Records and all things Hell Is Other People. About HELL IS OTHER PEOPLE: Based out of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, HELL IS OTHER PEOPLE produces blackened hardcore with a surprisingly emotional edge. Their music delivers an eerie ambiance across guitar-driven tracks, contrasting instrumental layers, and evocative moods. Initially starting as a post-hardcore act in 2014, the band gradually incorporated more black metal influences, evolving into a post-black style with atmospheric flourishes.

From Death metal to prog to soaring '70s-inspired driven riffs the solo project Octoploid from Olli has a wide range of influences and features guest appearances from friends and artists he has worked with over the years. I caught up with Olli to talk all about the forthcoming debut album "Beyond The Aeons" due out on July 5, 2024, via Reigning Phoenix Music. OCTOPLOID is the solo band of Olli-Pekka Laine (bass, keyboards, backing vocals; AMORPHIS, BARREN EARTH, MANNHAI), and was formed in 2022 which has led to "Beyond The Aeons," the act's debut album which is due to be released on July 5, 2024 via Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM). Combining elements from 90s death/black metal, 70s prog rock and 90s psychedelic rock, their music has its own place on the map. In one phrase, OCTOPLOID's sound is described as a "classic death prog." Built around Laine, the core band includes four additional musicians: Well-seasoned and diverse drummer Mikko Pietinen brings experience from stoner rock (MANNHAI) to Finnish mainstream pop rock (KASMIR etc.), while lead/rhythm guitarist Peter Salonen (THE KINKY THING; a band performing Finnish psych rock legends KINGSTON WALL covers) is a quite new face in the scene. The five-piece is completed by keyboardist Kim Rantala (GIANT ROBOT, ex-AMORPHIS) and vocalist Mikko Kotamäki (SWALLOW THE SUN etc.; live). Check out 'The Dawns In Nothingness [feat. Mikko Kotamäki]' over on YouTube: • OCTOPLOID - The Dawns In Nothingness ... E.S.P. (Engineered Society Project) unveiled their highly anticipated album, Deception, on May 17th, courtesy of Mindsnap Music/Combat Records. Alongside the album release, the band also debuted a lyric video for the title track, "Deception". Every track on the album was meticulously crafted and expertly mixed at Total Access Recording in Redondo Beach, California. Additionally, the two tracks "Undertaker" and "Kamikaze of Love" were recorded at Magic Studios in Houston, Texas. Get ready to immerse yourself in a sonic journey unlike any other. One of the highlights of Deception is the track "Fade Away," which features the legendary Glenn Hughes from Deep Purple. This collaboration adds a unique and dynamic element to the album, making it a must-listen for fans of both E.S.P. and Glenn Hughes.
